The government via MITI is currently looking at an immunisation exercise to be undertaken directly by manufacturing organisations. Attached are the presentation from MITI and a brief of the programs.

1. ONSITE VACCINATION REQUESTS BY MANUFACTURING SECTOR
- Must have 1500 workers or more to register
- 1500 workers require 36 fully qualified medical personnel including panel doctors from registered hospitals to administer the vaccine.
- Panel doctors must be certified by ‘Protect Health’ .
- Companies can group together and make a ‘cluster’ to reach the 1500 level
- Companies grouping together must be within the same locality
- Commences 1st May 2021
- Interstage travel for companies with branches in other states is not allowed.
- Oil & Gas sector is considered as part of ‘Manufacturing’.
- Assessment done by MITI.
- All workers must be registered through My Sejahtera.
- Only the Sinovac Vaccine is available.
- Workers must volunteer for the vaccine; no compulsion is allowed.
- Transport of vaccines to site and the vaccine itself is paid for by the government.
- A pilot test will be conducted first after which, all manufacturing concerns can register directly with MITI.
2. BUSINESS TRAVELERS/ EXPATRIATES (EP HOLDERS)/ BOARD OF DIRECTORS
- Commences 28th April 2021
- Direct e mail to MITI to request to be vaccinated
- Sinovac vaccine only
- Must show relevant documents for travel
- Spouses/family cannot register under this scheme
- The vaccine is subject to availability – No. 1 above takes precedence
- Cost of vaccine is paid by the government.
NOTE:
- There is a proposal, in the pipeline, for companies to purchase the vaccine for their workers. This is based on the lowest priority based on the availability of the vaccine. Companies bear the full financial responsibility and liability for this proposal.
- IMITI will provide the full guidelines for the initiative in due course.
- IConstruction Industry organisations can check with The Ministry of Works and CIDB regarding this initiative.
- Other industries such as Plantations, Services sector etc., have to check with their respective Ministries.
- Priority is for manufacturing sector organisations with large numbers of general workers.
